Makinson Island - Owned by the Makinson family originally, the 132-acre island offers approximately 3.5 miles of hiking trails and wildlife viewing opportunities. Located in the middle of Lake Tohopekaliga used to house an exotic animal before the state bought it for $4.3 million in 1999. The former owner, Dick Dickerman, had a caged lion, alligators, exotic goats, llamas and peacocks. Most of the animals were sold however the Goats are still there along with Wild Hogs, Deer,
Raccoons, Armadillos, Eagles, Owls, and other wildlife. The island is now a county park and is open to the public. It offers a covered deck grill, potable toilets, primitive campsites, gazebo, and dock. This is the real Florida a must see for nature enthusiast and hikers.

Island Nature Tours- Our Island Nature Tours are on Mckinson's Island. It includes a Scenic/Eco Tour. When get to the island we provide everyone with a bottle of water and we get off the boat and you are guided by our captains around the two mile nature trail. You will see the Eagle nest and possible the eagles, sometimes if you are quite we could see the Big Horned Sheep, Deer, Wild Hogs, Raccoons, Armadillos, Owls and lots of other wildlife.
