Lake Toho is a 18,810-acre lake located in Kissimmee, Fl just minutes from Disney and Universal Studios. Lake Toho has been one of the favorite central Florida lakes for producing trophy bass. Using shiners will always trigger big bass, but flipping plastic worms, tubes and soft-jerk baits will increase the action. Top water jerk baits, buzz baits (sometimes called Lunker Lures) and poppers produce the most action of all.
Big Lake Toho is the first navigable lake in the Kissimmee Chain of lakes. You could take a boat from the Kissimmee lake front park all the way to the Atlantic Ocean at Port St. Lucy on the east coast of Florida, or to Ft. Myers on the west coast. The historians report that the Kissimmee Chain is 125,000 years old. The name Tohopekaliga is a Seminole Indian word meaning fort site, ( the palace of a fort) in Creek indian language, which was the language of the Seminoles.
Little is known about the tropical birds and wildlife on the lake. Lake Toho has four pair of nesting Bald Eagles, five different species of Herons, three different species of Egrets, three different species of owls, and many other tropical ducks and birds. |
